What a show!

We reflect on the success of this year’s Southwest Home & Garden Show and look forward to what’s to come in the future.

If you’re looking to gain some inspiration for home or garden improvements, then make sure you save the date for The Southwest Home & Garden show taking place next year on the 6th and 7th April. This year’s show saw a huge amount of visitors and businesses alike descend upon Westpoint Arena in Exeter – which isn’t surprising, as the show is the region’s leading home and garden event. The organisers are dedicated to bringing together a wide range of businesses that specialise in interiors, gardens, renewables, self-build and lifestyle products. Their aim is for the show to be a chance for you to discover the right company to help with whatever your project happens to be, or to simply provide expert advice through the seminars and talks that are free to listen in to as part of the event.

A couple of companies close to home that were featured at the show this year were Mark Piper Furniture and Riverford Organics. Mark Piper Furniture specialises in designing and making bespoke pieces of furniture. Whether it’s a finely crafted kitchen, or a handmade piece of freestanding furniture that’s tailored to your personal specifications; Mark’s aim is to produce furniture to the highest possible standard. Riverford Organics is setting the pace for the creation and distribution of quality organic veg boxes and recipe inspiration – perfect for those who want to step away from the plastic packaging that dominates supermarkets, and delve into a cardboard box filled with organic goodness from both the UK and abroad. These are but two examples of the kind of companies that are represented at the show along with a multitude of others with different specialities.

The quality food and drinks market and café keep you going as you explore, giving you the opportunity to sit down over a cold drink and have a good chat about all the different stalls and seminar discussions taking place. There’s also the added bonus of being able to sample some of the finest local artisan food and drink including: local gins, craft ales, spices, organic veg boxes and more.

The homewares and interiors market displays striking interior design options where you can discover quality blankets, art, ceramics, rugs, furniture and a host of other unique items. As lovely as the bathrooms and kitchens are, it takes a bit more time to get them set up in your home than it will to pick up the ceramics set that you’ve been hankering after!

If you’ve got green fingers, then be prepared to delve into all things garden as the show presents garden nurseries, garden hand tools and wildlife habitats. So, you can take home plants to spruce up your garden and perhaps even be inspired to create a feature that you haven’t thought of before. Plus, the wide range of quality outbuildings and furniture will be hard to resist, especially the luxury hot tubs that will transform any garden into a tranquil escape.

The show is fast becoming the premier home and garden event in the region and following the success of this year’s show, we’re already looking forward to what next year will bring. With 140 exhibitors and free seminars on trending topics, products and ideas, it really is the place to go if you want to find out about all things home and garden.

This year saw the show receive over 4,000 visitors, which will only increase next year as more businesses are set to get involved on the back of this years success. With an onsite café, unlimited free parking, and free entry if you pre-register, it really is a great event to mark on the calendar for next year!
