The best burger in Devon?

A burger joint bursting with unique flavour combinations and a buzzing atmosphere to boot.

Founded by two passionate foodies, Jenna Heasman and brother-in-law Vince Aggett, MEAT59 brings an ultimate feast of flavours to the table. Vince found his flair for the kitchen while working as an apprentice chef in the army aged 16 and Jenna found her passion for food whilst living in London for six years, during the time that the street food scene was really taking off. The pair often spoke about opening a burger restaurant together and finally decided the time was right in 2014.

“…Devon Street Food Awards’ ‘Best Dish,’ South Devon and English Riviera Awards’ ‘Restaurant of the Year’…”

Jenna tells us: “After lots of help from friends and family who chipped in with truck loads of DIY, quirky ideas and many, many tasting sessions, MEAT59 was born.” With restaurants in Torquay and Exeter, MEAT59 is now well established among the foodie industry with awards under its belt such as Devon Street Food Awards’ ‘Best Dish,’ South Devon and English Riviera Awards’ ‘Restaurant of the Year,’ as well as being voted the ‘No.2 Best Burger Joint’ in the UK by Tripadvisor, and it’s not hard to see why! Run from the ground up with all staff involved in the business as a whole, this humble team are well known for their exceptional customer service alongside delicious food.

Jenna and Vince are proud to source the majority of their meat from trusted south west suppliers, such as the award-winning butchers, Gribbles. This local approach means that they don’t compromise on quality, and patties are mixed and pressed by hand in the kitchen every day. It’s not just the meat that’s locally sourced either, as the buns are baked fresh using MEAT59’s own recipe by local bakers. The signature MEAT59 burger comprises of a 6oz hamburger pattie, pulled pork, chorizo, black pudding and M59 burger sauce, providing the ultimate meat feast for burger lovers. Despite the name however, there are also highly praised vegan and veggie options too. At the Exeter restaurant, Meat59 also cook up a storm in the mornings and provide hearty breakfast options packed with flavour; we have our eye on the M59 full English or the pancakes with fresh fruit and maple syrup, yum!

This burger restaurant creates a rustic and welcoming atmosphere, providing mouth-wateringly good burgers that will leave you satisfied in every way. Passionate about music as well as food, you’re guaranteed to have a good soundtrack to accompany your meal and don’t be surprised if you see the MEAT59 burger stand at a festival near you this summer!
