Helping you get property savvy

Devon Law is here to help you get the most from your property. Founder Jenny Jones emphasises that second homeowners run the risk of losing out on thousands as the result of a simple mistake. The catch is, if you buy a second home you get taxed more as a result of owning two houses. However, the solution is to sell your first home within three years, which will entitle you to a refund on the higher rates. Jenny tells us: “our strategy at Devon Law is to help second homeowners move to Devon and enjoy all it has to offer. We want to help you reclaim your tax so that you can re-invest it back into your new county and not into the tax man’s pockets.”

Wake up and smell the coffee

In our first issue you may recall we introduced new kid on the coffee block, The Fresh Coffee Company, based in Exeter. Owner Murray James tells us: “We’re able to offer a wide range of premium Italian machines at excellent prices as we buy them directly from the roaster in Italy, meaning we can pass on the discounted prices to our customers. We recently supplied a Sanremo Café Racer to a customer who couldn’t believe we were able to offer it at the same price as they had been quoted for a ‘regular machine’.” So, if your machine has seen better days, and you want to discover why we love The Fresh Coffee Company, contact Murray and discover the machines behind some of the best brews out there.

A new look for Britannia Lanes’ Exeter facility!

One of the south west’s largest removals and self-store companies, Britannia Lanes offers a wide range of services, including removals, European removals, shipping, self-drive, shredding and record management. The company recently unveiled its new warehouse and self-store facility in Exeter. The most impressive part of the newly updated premises, as well as the additional storage facility, is the impression the office space makes on both employees and clients each time they step inside. This is thanks to a unique industrial look that Director Rob Lane has aspired to,  which leaves the wiring, plumbing and air conditioning exposed in the ceiling. It certainly seems to be achieving an air of calm relaxation throughout the office! Rob tells us: “I had seen the style used in restaurants and refurbished buildings, but the regulations are much more strict for a new build. It was a lot of extra work, but I think it’s worth it!”
